Steinbockloipe: Large skating loop
Tour description
The Steinbockloipe stands out as a very snow-reliable cross-country ski trail. It is relatively centrally located and offers an impressive alpine winter landscape with trail sections in the Gemsteltal and Derra Valley.About 9 km of the entire Steinbockloipe trail network are groomed for skating technique. The large skating loop runs from the Bödmen district to Baad and into the Derra Valley. It meanders through several loops over the Birkenwies, Gemstelboden, and through the Wiesele area.
The Steinbockloipe offers five possible skating loops as well as a practice area: the Birkenwies Loop (2.2 km / 43 m elevation gain), the Bödmen-Baad Loop (7.5 km / 144 m elevation gain), the Derra Loop (1.6 km / 51 m elevation gain), the Weiher Loop (3.3 km / 61 m elevation gain), and the Wiesele Loop (3.6 km / 79 m elevation gain).
The medium to difficult loops can be skied individually or combined. The Wiesele Loop includes a nearly 4 km long section of the trail that is snowed artificially.
Trail access points (Loipenenstiege) are located at Birkenwies, the Weiher parking lot, Baad, and at the Aparthotel.
